During the closing Wreath-laying Ceremony at the African Burial Ground in lower Manhattan yesterday, H.E. Anatolio Ndong Mba, Ambassador for the Republic of Equatorial Guinea Permanent Mission to the United Nations, paid hommage to his ancestors on behalf of the African continent. At the African Burial Ground Visitor Center, located adjacent to the Ted Weiss Federal Building at 290 Broadway, Park Ranger Douglas of the National Park Service coordinated a tour of current exhibits for the Ambassador.

“I’ll definitely come back to the African Burial Ground”, said Ambassador Anatolio Ndong Mba. “Some of these displays here, I played with as a child. (Pointing to a world map) This is where I’m from”, the Ambassador added.

“On Saturday, the wreaths were released into the Atlantic Ocean as a memorial“, said Victor Mooney, executive director of US based South African Arts International. Later this year, Mr. Mooney will make his fourth bid and row the “Spirit of Malabo” from Las Palmas, Canary Islands to New York City for an AIDS-free Generation and to raise funds and awareness for the Permanent Memorial at United Nations In Honor of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade.

What is this, some kind of joke? The African Burial Ground has been destroyed in 9/11 and the 9/11 Memorial has been buit over it!
