Barbadians in 2013 Rugby 7′s World Cup Regional Qualifier and NACRA 7s Championship to be broadcast via Rogers TV
Rugby Canada will host the North American Caribbean Rugby Association (NACRA) 7s Championship in Ottawa this Saturday and Sunday August 25th and 26th. The tournament, which also serves as the regional qualifier for the 2013 Rugby 7s World Cup, takes place at Twin Elm Rugby Park in Nepean, On., and features teams from across the NACRA region including Canada, the USA, Mexico and Caribbean nations Jamaica, Bahamas, Bermuda, Barbados, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the Cayman Islands.
Tournament organizers are pleased to announce that in partnership with Rogers TV Ottawa, each of the participating nations and a significant number of key matches will be featured in a television package to include four (4) broadcasts over the two days.
Rogers TV’s Director of Programming Development; Julie Henson says rugby has been a popular fixture on Rogers TV over the years. “We’ve covered men’s and women’s games at all levels and viewer response has been consistently strong. We’re thrilled to be able to feature the Rugby 7’s World Cup Qualifier on Rogers TV, cable 22 in Ottawa.”
To augment the television broadcast, tournament organizers will also be making 100% of the tournament content available over the internet. Over 70% of the matches will be produced using a multi-camera production platform, with all other games captured with a single camera exclusively for internet streaming.
The internet stream will be available worldwide with the exception of the Ontario region, where content is under a “Geo-Block” until the conclusion of the second day of broadcasting. Viewers outside Ontario may watch the entire tournament live on http://www.livestream.com/nacrarugby
Tournament play will commence at 9am EDT on both the 25th and 26th, and will run throughout each day with play ending at roughly 5:30 pm each day. The four (4) television broadcasts are scheduled to air on Rogers TV in Ottawa at 3:00 pm and 8:00 pm EDT on both days*. (*check local listings as schedule subject to change)
