Almost 1,000 pounds of weed seized in St John as Jamaican National faced the gavel
Members of the Drug Squad with the assistance of the Barbados Coast Guard responded to reports of suspicious activities along the Coast in the areas of Martin’s Bay, Glenburnie, Foster Hall, St John and at Tent Bay, St Joseph about 5:15 am on Monday 27 August 2012.

{RBPF FILE IMAGE} As a result of searches conducted, 10 large packages of cannabis weighing 706.2 lbs were discovered in the shore line at Foster Hall, St. John. No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing.
2. Court Results
Jamaican national Pete Dave Welch who was held with ½ lb of cannabis, appeared at the District B Magistrate Court on Friday August 24, 2012, pleaded guilty to all the charges before Magistrate L. Smith-Bovell. He was sentenced as follows:
1. For the offence of Possession of Cannabis, he was Convicted Reprimanded and Discharged;
2. For the offences of Importation and Trafficking, he was sentenced to 18 month in prison for each offence to run concurrently;
3. For the offence of Possession with intent to supply, he was sentenced to 12 month in prison to run concurrent with the other sentences.
