RUGBY BARBADOS SEVENS GOES UNDEFEATED IN POOL, LOSES IN QUARTER FINALS
Barbados Select Rugby Sevens recently competed in the Ashby 7’s tournament in Leicestershire, England. The team won all their pool games by scores of 38-7, 24-17 and 41-0 to Sutton Boddington, Loughborough Students and Team Damage. They lost in extra time in the quarter finals to G-Force, a select side. The tournament culminated a four day camp hosted by Leicester Forest.

The team were assisted by Barbados Olympic Association, The Arts and Sports Promotion Fund of the Ministry of Finance and Virgin Atlantic; while BTA handled the Reception after their games
Head coach Joe Whipple commented, “It was a very good camp. We got more than we expected out of our time. We worked hard for the two days prior to the tournament including playing two games against a Leicester Forest side. This load showed a little in the quarter finals. However, this takes nothing away from the players efforts. I was particularly pleased with the performances of the three Barbados based players Jae Bowen, Dario Stoute and Sean Ward who were voted MVP and Most Improved by the players. We will continue our program over the next three months leading up to the Rugby World Cup Qualifiers in Canada.”
