Harlequin Hotels & Resorts opens second Caribbean hotel: “blu St Lucia” in Rodney Bay, St Lucia
Harlequin Hotels & Resorts is delighted to announce the recent opening of blu St Lucia: a newly renovated 72 room hotel (formerly Village Inn and Spa) in the highly desirable area of Rodney Bay, St Lucia.
Situated just 100 yards from the beach, furnished with a high standard of style and comfort, and offering a great range of facilities, the hotel provides the ideal base from which to discover the riches of the country.
blu St Lucia was officially opened for business on 1st April 2012 by Mrs Carol Ames and Mr Dan Ames, the wife and son of the Harlequin Hotels & Resorts Chairman, Mr Dave Ames. Immediately following the ribbon cutting, the Ames’ personally welcomed the hotel’s first guest, Ms Sarah Brown.
Ms Brown, who arrived from Canada, has been coming to St Lucia for 28 years and to what was formerly known as the Village Inn hotel for 14 years. Upon seeing the transformation, she said, ”I am very impressed with the renovation that has been carried out and the level of quality and comfort of the furnishings.”
Commenting on his recent visit to the property, Harlequin Hotels & Resorts Chairman, Mr Dave Ames, said, “We are thrilled to have opened our second Caribbean hotel. This has only been possible thanks to great support from the St Lucian Government and the efficient delivery by the local businesses and contractors that worked with us to achieve this opening. Harlequin Developments’ Project Manager, Rory Murphy, has done a terrific job: he delivered the project on time and to the level of quality we require for our guests. Now we are able to offer St Lucia the Harlequin standard of guest experience that is ‘redefining luxury in the Caribbean’.”
The hotel will operate with an initial 60 newly refurbished rooms while a final 12 rooms are completed with interior soft furnishings in time for May’s Jazz Festival, when the hotel is already completely sold out.
