Dominican Republic Broadcasters leave Z 101’s popular “El gobierno de la manana” and cite censorship for departure

Santo Domingan Radio Personalities Julio Martinez Pozo, Euri Cabral, Jose La Luz, Victor Gomez Casanova and Melton Pineda, stated effective Thursday 1 March, they are no longer part of the hugely popular “El gobierno de la manana” radio program that is transmitted by Z-101, saying they have been censored when dealing with certain issues. They stated that the decision was irreversible.

"The radio team indicated although they received offers from several radio station owners for a new space, the crew were undergoing a period of reflection..."

They expressed their thanks to the owner of La Z-101, Bienvenido Rodriguez and to the director, Willy Rodriguez.

They said that they were aware that their decision put their labor rights at risk, which could cost them several million pesos, but they stated that it was not in their interest to carry out legal action, and left the decision on whether to pay them or not, in the hands of Bienvenido Rodriguez.

They stated that although they had received offers from several radio station owners who have offered them a new space, they were undergoing a period of reflection and did not harbor any kind of grudge against Z-101.

The station website was mute about the resignations, preferring to issue a statement on the plurality of the station and its commitment to listeners.
