WALK FOR SIGHT IN TRINIDAD – CALYPSONIANS AGAINST CATARACTS, 5 OCT. 2008
by Bajan Reporter / September 30th, 2008
The ability to see is often taken for granted, but millions around the world suffer each day from impairments due to birth defects, accidents and most often aging.
Numerous organizations worldwide serve to raise funds and awareness to join the fight for sight. In Trinidad, the Volunteers for World Sight Day committee invites you to participate in its 4th Annual Walk for Sight.
This year’s event starts at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 5th, at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port of Spain, and simultaneously at Palmiste Park in San Fernando.
The theme for World Sight Day on October 9, 2008 is “Eyes on the Future – Fighting Vision Impairment in Later Life.” The Walk for Sight in Trinidad is open to everyone. The TT $20.20 registration fee is a charitable contribution and proceeds will benefit a charity for the elderly. All advance registrants will receive a free commemorative World Sight Day T-shirt and refreshments on the day of the event. Free vision screenings will be offered, as well, at these locations.
