featuring the film ?Ralph Bunche: An American Odyssey? A 2-hour documentary film on the life of Dr. Ralph Johnson Bunche (1903-1971) statesman, peace negotiator, leading intellectual and scholar, and first person of colour to win the Nobel Peace Prize. This represents the first time an in-depth documentary film has been produced on the life and legacy of this American legend. An African-American, who overcame racial prejudice and poverty to become Undersecretary General of the United Nations, Bunche’s life offers a unique window on many key issues and historical events that took place during the middle of the 20th century in the United States and the world. These include international peacekeeping, peacemaking, decolonization and human rights. Thursday, February 28th, 2008 EBCCI Theatre 7:00pm Bill Greaves has produced over 200 documentary films; seven have earned more than 70 International Film Festival Awards, an Emmy Award, and four Emmy nominations. In 1980, he was inducted into the Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame and received a special tribute at the first Black American Independent Film Festival in Paris. He also has been awarded an “Indy”, which is the Special Life Achievement Award of the Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers.
Mr. Greaves is a proud Barbadian Citizen.
