(Follow-Up) More Brit kids playing poet bearing fruit: all are eyeing Barbados as their vacation

Lucy Lewis, a ten year old lass from Bishop’s Stortford is a finalist for a Bajan vacation, but now she has a close competitor in seven year old Edward Dutton of Radlett -

“I’m an enormous pumpkin,

I grew in Edward’s plot.

In the October sunshine,

I glow orange and hot.

I won first prize in Potters Bar,

The biggest veggie there,

I am the proudest pumpkin,

Because of Edward’s care.

At Hallowe’en my tummy’s scraped,

Eyes, nose and mouth cut neat.

My candle burns so hot inside,

I’m off to trick or treat.

Boo!“

Regardless of whether this poem wins or not, it will be compiled with others to make a poetry book the sale of which is to benefit young cancer sufferers, there will be 16 finalists in the end vying for a holiday here in Barbados. Mangoes, tamarinds and mauby bark are other veggies and fruits the lucky winner will have a chance to learn about while here! The judges will have a hard time picking a winner!
